Book Tracker: ShelfLog Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
Summary
Your library, notes, quotes and reading history are stored only on this device. When you search for a book, the app sends your search words or ISBN to public book databases to fetch details and covers. There are no accounts, ads or analytics.
This policy covers the Book Tracker: ShelfLog app for iPhone and iPad, published by mk0.net, an independent app studio. It is written from what the app actually does in its code. Questions: hello@mk0.net.
What we receive
Nothing. We have no accounts or servers for ShelfLog, and your library never reaches us.
What stays on your device
- Your books, notes, quotes, collections, reading goals and reading sessions are stored on this device.
- Custom cover photos you choose are saved inside the app on this device.
- Home Screen widgets read a small summary that the app shares with them on the same device.
We cannot see this data. It is not uploaded to us.
Permissions the app may ask for
- Camera: Asked when you scan a book's ISBN barcode. Camera frames are processed on the device and never stored.
- Notifications: Asked when you turn on reading reminders, streak alerts or weekly and monthly summaries. They are created on your device.
Every permission is optional and can be changed later in the iPhone Settings app. Features that need a permission you decline simply stay unavailable.
Data that leaves your device
The app talks to the following services. Each receives only what is listed, and only for the purpose shown.
- Google Books, Open Library and LibraryThing (book search and covers): The title, author or ISBN you search or scan is sent to Google Books, Open Library and, if needed, LibraryThing to find book details and cover images. No account or user ID is attached. Their privacy policy.
- RevenueCat (subscription management): An anonymous purchase ID and your subscription status, when you view the paywall, subscribe, restore purchases, or when the app checks whether your subscription is active. Your app content is never sent. Their privacy policy.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, card or payment details. The app checks your subscription status through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous ID and your purchase status, not your identity.
Ads, tracking and analytics
No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data. The app contains no analytics SDK.
Account
No account needed. There is no sign-up and nothing to log in to.
Children
Book Tracker: ShelfLog is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Keeping and deleting your data
Delete books, notes and collections inside the app. You can export a full JSON backup or a CSV of your books before you delete. Deleting the app removes all of its data from this device.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or KVKK), you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Because the app keeps your records on your own device, you can do most of this directly in the app or by deleting it. For anything else, or for data held by a service listed above, email hello@mk0.net and we will help within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date below before the change ships.
