Watch Identifier AI: WatchSnap Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Summary

When you identify a watch, the photo is sent through our AI server to an AI provider and the result comes back to your device. Our server does not store photos or results. Your collection, notes, voice notes and locations stay on this device.

This policy covers the Watch Identifier AI: WatchSnap app for iPhone and iPad, published by mk0.net, an independent app studio. It is written from what the app actually does in its code. Questions: hello@mk0.net.

What we receive

Photos you choose to identify pass through our AI server, which does not store them or the results. For watch stories, the saved photo, watch name, date and saved place name (if any) are sent the same way. Each request carries a random install ID used to manage access and prevent abuse. We have no user accounts for this app.

What stays on your device

  • Your saved watches, photos, results, notes, tags, ratings, albums and stories are stored on this device.
  • Voice notes and Live Photo clips are saved inside the app on this device.
  • Your profile name, picture and settings are stored on this device.
  • If you turn on location tagging, the location of a saved find is stored on this device.

We cannot see this data. It is not uploaded to us.

Permissions the app may ask for

  • Camera: Asked when you take a photo of a watch to identify it.
  • Photos: Asked when you pick a photo to identify, when you let the app find recent watch photos (checked on your device), or when you save images to your library.
  • Microphone: Asked when you record a voice note for a saved watch. Recordings stay on this device.
  • Location: Asked only if you turn on location tagging, which is off by default, to save where you saw a watch.
  • Notifications: Asked when you turn on reminders. They are created on your device.

Every permission is optional and can be changed later in the iPhone Settings app. Features that need a permission you decline simply stay unavailable.

Data that leaves your device

The app talks to the following services. Each receives only what is listed, and only for the purpose shown.

  • mk0.net AI service (runs on Cloudflare Workers) and OpenAI (photo identification): When you identify a watch: the resized photo, your app language and the request. When you open a watch story: the saved photo, watch name, date and place name if saved. A random install ID and a security signature are included. Their privacy policy.
  • Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation) (background information): After an identification, the model name and your language code are sent to fetch a short summary. Their privacy policy.
  • Open-Meteo (historical weather for a saved place): Only when you tap to fetch the weather for a saved find that has a location: its coordinates and date. Their privacy policy.
  • Apple Maps (showing maps): Used to show the places of your saved finds on a map, only if you use location tagging. Their privacy policy.
  • WishKit (in-app feature request board): Only if you open the feature request board and submit or vote on an idea. Their privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat (subscription management): An anonymous purchase ID and your subscription status, when you view the paywall, subscribe, restore purchases, or when the app checks whether your subscription is active. Your app content is never sent. Their privacy policy.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, card or payment details. The app checks your subscription status through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous ID and your purchase status, not your identity.

Ads, tracking and analytics

No ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data. The app contains no analytics SDK.

Account

No account needed. There is no sign-up and nothing to log in to.

Children

Watch Identifier AI: WatchSnap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Keeping and deleting your data

Delete saved watches inside the app. Export your collection as JSON or CSV first if you want a copy. Deleting the app removes its local data. A small install ID and credit counter are kept in the iOS Keychain so trial credits are not reset by reinstalling.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or KVKK), you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Because the app keeps your records on your own device, you can do most of this directly in the app or by deleting it. For anything else, or for data held by a service listed above, email hello@mk0.net and we will help within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date below before the change ships.
